This Privacy Policy explains how Lads Anonymous handles personal data when you visit ladsanonpod.com, contact us or subscribe to our newsletter. It should be read alongside our separate Cookie Policy (UK), which provides more detail about cookies and similar technologies used on the site.

Who we are

Lads Anonymous is an independent podcast and website operated personally by Ricky Feegrade. Ricky is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy, which means he decides why and how that data is used.

Personal data we collect

Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:

  • your name, email address and any other information you choose to provide when you contact us;
  • your email address, subscription status and related newsletter records when you join our mailing list;
  • technical and usage information, such as device and browser information, pages viewed, approximate location derived from an internet protocol address, referral information and interactions with the site, where the relevant optional consent has been given;
  • advertising and measurement information generated through Meta technologies, where advertising consent has been given; and
  • records of the cookie choices you make through our consent system.

Please do not send information that is not needed for your enquiry. If you include personal information about someone else, you should make sure you are entitled to share it with us.

Contact-form submissions

When you use a contact form, we receive the details you enter and the contents of your message. We use this information to read, manage and respond to your enquiry, protect the site from misuse and, where relevant, take steps connected with a potential working or commercial relationship.

Our lawful basis will normally be our legitimate interests in responding to genuine enquiries and running the podcast and site. Where your enquiry relates to a possible agreement with you, processing may also be necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract. We do not use contact-form messages for unrelated email marketing unless you have separately consented.

Newsletter and MailerLite

If you subscribe to the Lads Anonymous newsletter, the email address and related subscription records you provide are processed using MailerLite. We use a double opt-in process: after submitting the form, you must confirm your subscription using the email sent to you before you are added as an active subscriber.

We use this data to send the newsletter, operate the subscription, keep appropriate consent and suppression records, measure newsletter performance and maintain the mailing list. The lawful basis for sending the newsletter is your consent. You can withdraw that consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting us. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

MailerLite acts as a service provider processing newsletter data on our behalf. It may also process limited technical information needed to deliver emails, prevent abuse and report on delivery and engagement.

Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4 through Google Site Kit to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are visited and how people arrive at the site. This helps us assess and improve the website and podcast content.

Google Analytics is treated as optional analytics technology. Our verified consent setup blocks it before you make an optional choice. Choosing No thanks keeps it blocked. It operates only when you allow Analytics, and turning Analytics off through the granular controls keeps it blocked.

Where analytics technology involves storing or accessing information on your device, we rely on your consent. We also rely on consent for the related processing of personal data. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time through the site’s Cookie settings control.

Meta Pixel and advertising

We use the Meta Pixel for advertising measurement and audience-related purposes, including understanding the effectiveness of advertising and, where applicable, helping to reach relevant audiences through Meta services.

Meta advertising technology is optional. Our verified consent setup blocks it before you make a choice. Choosing No thanks keeps it blocked. It operates only when you allow Advertising, and turning Advertising off through the granular controls keeps it blocked.

We rely on your consent for optional advertising technology and the related processing of personal data. Depending on how Meta processes information through its services, Meta may act as a separate controller for some processing under its own privacy information.

Cookies and Complianz

We use Complianz to present the cookie banner, record your choices and control optional categories. Essential technology may operate where needed for the site and consent mechanism to function. Analytics and Advertising choices are separate and are respected independently: allowing one does not automatically allow the other.

You can revisit the Cookie settings control to change or withdraw your consent. Purposes and lawful bases

We process personal data only where we have a lawful basis. Depending on the circumstances, we use data:

  • with your consent, for newsletter marketing and optional Analytics or Advertising technologies;
  • for our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries, operating and securing the site, administering the podcast and understanding our audience in ways that do not override your rights;
  • to take steps at your request or perform a contract, where an enquiry or relationship requires it; and
  • to comply with a legal obligation, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims, where applicable.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider the nature of the data, the reasonable expectations of the people involved and the potential effect on their rights.

Processors and other recipients

We use trusted providers to run the website and related services. These may include our website hosting and security providers, MailerLite for newsletter services, Google for Analytics and Site Kit, Meta for advertising measurement, and Complianz for consent management. Providers acting as processors may use personal data only to provide services to us and in accordance with applicable data-protection requirements.

Some providers, including Google and Meta, may act as separate or joint controllers for particular processing they undertake. Their own privacy information explains those activities. We may also disclose information to professional advisers, regulators, law-enforcement bodies or other parties where reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or address fraud, security or misuse. We do not sell your personal data.

International transfers

Some service providers may process personal data outside the United Kingdom, including in countries whose data-protection laws differ from UK law. Where UK data-protection rules require safeguards, we expect the relevant provider or transfer arrangement to use an approved safeguard, such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an approved UK Addendum to standard contractual clauses, together with supplementary measures where appropriate.

How long we keep data

We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including any legal, accounting, security or dispute-related needs.

  • Contact enquiries are kept while we deal with the enquiry and for an appropriate period afterwards where a record may reasonably be needed.
  • Active newsletter data is kept while you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, limited suppression and consent records may be retained so that we can respect your choice and demonstrate compliance.
  • Analytics, advertising and consent information is retained in accordance with the relevant service settings, our operational needs and applicable legal requirements.

Retention settings and business needs may change, so we do not state fixed periods here unless they have been confirmed and are appropriate.

Security

We take proportionate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against accidental or unlawful loss, misuse, alteration, unauthorised access or disclosure. No website or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure, but we review access and service arrangements in light of the nature of the data and the risks involved.

Your UK data-protection rights

  • ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • ask us to erase personal data;
  • ask us to restrict how data is used;

Marketing and unsubscribe choices

We send email marketing only where we have the required permission. Every marketing email should include an unsubscribe link. You may also ask us to stop by emailing newsletter@ladsanonpod.com. We may retain a minimal suppression record after an unsubscribe request so that the address is not accidentally added back to marketing.

Children’s data

The website and newsletter are intended for a general adult audience and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly seek to collect personal data from children through these services. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, please contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, remove it.

Third-party links and platforms

The site may link to podcast platforms, social networks and other third-party websites. Those services operate under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for how an independent third party handles personal data after you leave our site or interact directly with its service.
