00:00:00:00 – 00:00:23:23
Did you? I had another go. Braveheart. Last night. Another guy? Did you see? Yeah, yeah, I did. Hey. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I, Get all the way for it. Oh, no. Hey, guys. So long. So long as I start watching, I was like, I'll start where I left off from last week. Yeah, yeah yeah yeah, yeah.

00:00:23:23 – 00:00:47:20
When the, sliced dog across the throat. Yeah. And then, it's about an hour in as that guy's dragging on a bit that looks on less than an hour and 20 minutes on fatness. I until a great film. No great great, great film. Love it mate.

00:00:54:21 – 00:01:22:16
Dim night, hazy light. Band of brothers playing tunes high as quiet. Midnight waves. Surfing through till daylight breaks. Rhythm hit us different ways. Love of music that we prayed with our tongues in cheek. Band as I we like to speak. And yeah, times change. But no matter what the bond remains. Brothers. Hello and welcome to Lads anonymous.

00:01:22:17 – 00:01:43:08
It's episode 33, a podcast about two best mates of over 20 years invite you to join their safe space where all manner of subjects will be discussed. We'll focus on a specific subject matter first and then answer questions, dilemmas or need for advice, all handled anonymously. So sit back, relax and enjoy the pot. How's it going? Flab buzzing.

00:01:43:10 – 00:02:09:18
Sausage buzzing yeah I'm a big weekend, big week. And more importantly this podcast. Yeah lots of lots of stuff going on this week in the world of sharks yet also stuff. So I'm so excited about this episode. More excited than you. All that I kind of was taken to 32. Like you, we both have a shared interest in sharks for sure.

00:02:09:20 – 00:02:32:16
All good, all good things come to those who why why why why why is I saying what does that even mean? I don't know, but I still felt like I needed to say it to keep you at bay from saying episode one. Shark might write it. All right. I reckon we could do an offshoot podcast just on sharks for sure.

00:02:32:16 – 00:02:58:23
I mean, what I will say is that this isn't going to be a one episode of sharks and it will be revisited like there's loads of episodes that we've done that will eventually get revisited, because there is a lot to cover. People love to lot. They do. They everyone like people like eating chicken, like people. There is so many people out there, actually.

00:02:58:23 – 00:03:29:11
Right? Sharks. We've had loads of emails in of the experience and encounters with sharks while they've been diving on holiday. They've seen in photos that there's some really good holes in stuff they've sent in. So thank you for sending all your shark stuff in. Last week, the episode Near-Death experiences, someone sent in this quote for us, smoking DMT is like bungee jumping.

00:03:29:13 – 00:04:03:06
Ayahuasca is like a hot air balloon ride. So if they. Yeah. And if if anyone has ever had the inclination to try either they say that you should and it will, change your perception of things for the better. Now, I say take that with a pinch of salt. People. I'm not. We're not advocating to say, do any of those things, but you can do your own research and find out about what those things are and how they can affect you.

00:04:03:08 – 00:04:29:06
And then also, we had quite a lot of near-death experiences and someone sent something in. I can't remember if it's Instagram, email, Twitter, I can't find it. But basically the guy was with his wife. He'd been drinking all day in a limo on the way to a WWE event in Vegas, and as he was drinking this whiskey, he got out.

00:04:29:06 – 00:04:59:17
The guy at the limo. The sun hit him. He was then felt incredibly drunk, was swaying in the queue to get in under the heat in Vegas, fell over, hit his head and died. He was clinically dead for seven minutes. And then listen, listen, listen. Yeah, yeah. And then the paramedics, obviously, because it's a massive event were they're able to resuscitate him.

00:04:59:19 – 00:05:19:06
He's obviously alive. Yeah. Missed the WWE event. What did he say the second hospital I think his wife was a bit pissed off about it I well she missed Hulk Hogan and yeah missed it. Oh missed it. Oh because he was dead fucking it was.

00:05:19:08 – 00:05:39:10
Now I think that was the biggest near. Hold on. Did he say anything. No. What did he make a point of saying that I saw nothing? Yeah. Fuck, yeah. No. Yeah I know, I know, but I, I'm putting that down. See that? He was drunk, really, really drunk. And he was in the Vegas sun. And you know, you just going to blackout it.

00:05:39:10 – 00:05:48:20
Yeah. Yeah, I know if it's an afternoon when he was so drunk he didn't notice the afterlife. No.

00:05:48:22 – 00:06:15:10
It's just. Absolutely. Stephen. Fucking idiot. You have the key there. And you lost the. Okay. Fuck you drunk too much whiskey. Literally. Could have changed the way we think about the whole concept of being alive, but you just too fucking drunk to realize. The the Spotify comments have been rolling in, so it's like if you leaving those comments, one of them was, have you ever done a poo without doing away?

00:06:15:12 – 00:06:41:19
Fuck I is a good shower. I so there has been a time a couple of times where I have done that, but they've been forced to forcibly wear withheld doing the way because I've probably been outside or been in a terrible situation where I just need to get the like poo in a bag or bucket or something like that, and then I don't need I know, I know, I know, and I couldn't wait because there'd be a lot of way and you have a quick muck out.

00:06:41:19 – 00:06:59:13
So then that's the thing is no, no time for weird. No, no, exactly. I had a nightmare before this pod. Well, I had a shower, but I'm going to bear in mind people could be in their breakfast right now, right? What are you going to. Yeah. No, I just, you know, I just had a shower. And isn't it the worst when you've cleansed yourself?

00:06:59:13 – 00:07:17:17
And then three minutes after you tell me guys need to fucking turn out and like, all that cleaning is lost. What, so your entire you mentally you think your entire body but dirty after you've had a poo. Well, I'd like to. I'd like to have done the poo, then the shower and then proper cream for the rest of it.

00:07:17:21 – 00:07:47:18
Don't even wash your hands off the performance of what you are. Yes I do, that's disgusting. That is disgusting. Someone has said, how about an episode on competition I uncompetitive, which has negatively affected many of my relationships, my best friends and coworkers. Competitive people are assholes, are they? They are the the next bit. I don't think I'm a prick per say.

00:07:47:20 – 00:08:10:15
I you know, I tend to take things too seriously or go too hard. I know it points towards insecurity, but I genuinely appreciate friendly competition. Yeah, but it isn't friendly. Friendly is an agreement between two people that we understand how important it is. But what happens with competitive peoples? You make events like like a game of badminton a nightmare.

00:08:10:17 – 00:08:31:06
Yeah, like I do. You know, I was speaking to James all about this, who I do the another pod with, and he said he knows when he goes on a football pitch, he turns into an asshole. He knows it. He doesn't want to. He cannot stop himself. Yeah, someone said that you cannot apologize to people in WhatsApp groups.

00:08:31:06 – 00:08:58:05
Like a day later. But when I was I always remember when I was younger, I know to play football for teams and I was always like, I don't mind playing World Cup doubles and I don't mind playing different, headers and volleys and shit like that. You know, that's absolutely fine. Love that. As soon as you get onto a football pitch and someone is shouting at me to get in position and jump higher for that header and stand up fucking, I don't want to do this.

00:08:58:07 – 00:09:15:20
What are you going to call me? We're mates. We're mates. Why are you shouting at me? This is ridiculous. Why am I feeling bad? Because I want to play football. I want to hang about with you. But you're just having a go at me, screaming at me. I'm so. So I did this thing. You know. True. Geordie.

00:09:15:22 – 00:09:34:03
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Right. So if people don't know he's a big YouTuber, that's some sort of. That's been some. He's dealt with some things and, you know, don't think being canceled and all that shit. Right. Anyway, before that happened, he did A5A side tournament with influencers and 30 comments about YouTubers, and they all you put on one team.

00:09:34:05 – 00:09:50:11
God knows why I was invited, but I was right. And I even said to me, sure, why? And they were like, yeah, yeah, we want you to everyone there. And I was like, all right, fine. I started playing this, I hate this, I hate this. So much. I just want it to be over my fucking team and go all the way to the fucking final.

00:09:50:13 – 00:10:03:24
And I was like, oh my God. In the end, I said, I'm just going to go and go. I want to go and go, so I don't give a shit in the semifinals. Gain, please lose, lose. I don't want to play another game. I hate this, I'm not competitive. Everyone else wants to win. I couldn't give a fuck.

00:10:04:01 – 00:10:23:12
I just went up so far from home. Yeah, it's like they competitive people are fucking like. Typically when they get competitive, they become dickheads and they ruin everything. Yeah. When you're an adult as well, going out is a fucking nightmare because men are just blast in balls that you got no chance this horrible. Just some don't enjoy that.

00:10:23:14 – 00:10:48:01
Somebody else has emailed in about our episode about America and said great episode, and they would like to hear more travel themed episodes. So that's good comment from Spotify. Is it good? I don't know, we've done holidays, we've done stuff dos, we've done America. Is it not for holidays? Not for is how many more for fucking? How much more troubling can we possibly think?

00:10:48:03 – 00:11:10:01
I'd like to. Yeah. Like, a travel blog, being you in Europe. No Interrail in, mate. That would be sick. Yeah, and we can't maybe say good. So for $300, me and you, we can go first class around Europe, inter alia, if it is off peak and we. It's work. This is a podcast. It's work. We kind of like got.

00:11:10:02 – 00:11:35:07
Yeah. One. So you say sort of wise where are you going? I'll just get into right around Europe with Ricky. Yeah. Working on. Oh I want to come start podcasting. Yeah. You two do whatever you like. Then start a podcast. Me and Ricky going to work. That'll be amazing. And one last question. Would you rather be a goldfish or a stick insect?

00:11:35:09 – 00:12:00:01
Come from Spotify as well? Goldfish like you just did. A tank. People give you feed. You just look at people walking around. I like fish. Sims are right. Stick insect. I think if you're out in the wilds. Yeah. People going to eat. Yeah. There's going to be other insects that are going to try and get you. So don't want to do that.

00:12:00:03 – 00:12:29:06
Well Go Fish was the question. Would you rather vehicle fish stick insects. Well, I can tell you this because the boys stick insects at home. They like, oh, shit. Really? They fuck a lot. They, You didn't. I didn't play a fucking lot. Right. I'm changing to. No, you know, go go fish. I'm. I'm out a fucking.

00:12:29:08 – 00:12:52:10
Every two minutes. Is that another fucking 30 stick insects? Jesus. Really? Yeah. It's. And they're like escape ice. You find them? What? Walking down the wall and shit. I know if that would freak me out. Yeah. It's not. That was great, man. Great, right. British podcast awards. Oh stop it. No no no, listen listen listen, listen. This is the only one.

00:12:52:10 – 00:13:14:00
Last one, last one. I'm going to tell you something about this after you finish. Right. Okay. They haven't released. As far as I know. They haven't released the shortlist. They did a midway point on the shortlist and we were not on there. Okay. And I and I had a look at the pods that were featured. And they are fucking monstrous pods, right?

00:13:14:00 – 00:13:40:13
Absolutely monstrous celebrities, production values, all of that. Right. So it doesn't matter that we weren't shortlisted, but what I, what I do want to say is thank you everybody to to that, who voted for us. And I just want to say it wasn't a wasted vote because people putting our name across to them were now on their radar.

00:13:40:13 – 00:14:10:01
They don't give a fuck about us. That's anonymous. It coming for them. We're on their radar is they're going to be one day when we're up. Do you know how much value you've given to them? Right. And it isn't nothing. Rick. Oh, I forgot just by giving them free, free, free programmatic every single episode. You're talking about hundreds and hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of pounds at this stage.

00:14:10:03 – 00:14:27:05
If you'd have done that two years from now, and we would get in, you know, 3 or 4 times our audience, it's all about thousands of pounds of free advertising. You've given them. And what have got in return? Nothing. It I mean, if we'd if we were shortlisted, it would have been. It would have been a how do these massive.

00:14:27:11 – 00:14:44:02
They've been great. Don't get me wrong, but how many, how many. These massive company, these massive podcasts, how come they all got on there. They have a vested interest. They're paid to be on there. And same way you pay you pay to be number one in the charts. You could you could have told me about this earlier instead of the last.

00:14:44:04 – 00:15:17:20
Just let you run with it. But see, if you're if you're a okay, okay, okay, do whatever you want again. Tick tock. We are posting every single day on TikTok, and if you like watching clips, the video clips of the podcast, go on. Follow us on Tik Tok lads. Anon pod it's lads. Anon pod everywhere. So Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, friends Twitter whenever you do social media, we're there.

00:15:17:21 – 00:15:50:23
We had a banger. Unfortunately we we did have a banger. It was and it's probably clocked up now to about 65,000. Video View What was the content of that? Saying that we should blokes should suck each other off quite a lot. Don't. I'm the one that's gone semi viral. Brilliant, brilliant. Well done everyone. Yeah I mean it's my it's mainly me saying that how passionate I am about sucking my mates off.

00:15:51:00 – 00:16:14:17
Which is. It's funny, you don't like I stand by it, but it's almost like. Who's seen that? Yeah. I don't know when we know it's only 65,000 in the, what you call it. In the grand scheme of things, when someone at talkSPORT saw it. No, they wouldn't see it. But you know what? That's what I want to that my,

00:16:14:23 – 00:16:36:00
We're only joking. It's fine, it's fine. Now you get all the whites. You did ask me. He did say do you want to you find putting this up? And I said, yeah, it's fine. Yeah, exactly. So you see anything? What I would be. Sorry about that. Now it's fine. Let's let's get rid of all this. Let's let's undress.

00:16:36:00 – 00:17:08:23
Let's get comfortable, man. Let's talk about shark. So we put the party. We put the, the voting poll out on, on our Instagram stories. It was between addiction. We sharks and addiction got 31%. Sharks got 69%. 39. Our house fit in. How fit in 31% of what kind of miserable bastards that 31% of clearly of what I wanted to be banging on about this.

00:17:09:00 – 00:17:37:16
Talking about sharks for ages. I think everyone, everyone did it because they what they wanted to hear. You talk about sharks. They want a big one this week. Big one, big, big one. But it's sad. It's really sad in Jamaica. Jamaica. There's a boy, 16 years old, spearfishing, head spearfishing. I can talk about spearfishing. I can tell you all the things this kid did wrong.

00:17:37:18 – 00:18:05:01
Sitting from my chair and Devizes. So people that I know, this kid, 16 year old, they found his body missing the nominee's head. Oh, God. And he's been attacked probably by a tiger shark or a tiger. Yeah. Just think a tiger sharks. Yeah. Just as far as. Yeah, it could have been bull shark. Like very, very, super aggressive in those circumstances.

00:18:05:01 – 00:18:26:07
Also, there's an also recorded, recorded incident of a man's head being bitten off by a bull shark down a river. Because we know. But what do we know about bull sharks, Ricky? They they they swim in rivers and they can swim in brackish, brackish water. Fresh, even in fresh water it decreases. But they want basically they do what they want.

00:18:26:07 – 00:18:42:21
I don't give a fuck. What? Saltwater. What's that? Fresh water. I'll get in that. What you can do? I wouldn't be surprised if I showed them on land. Just walking down the high street that's been flooded. Golf courses that have bull sharks in their lakes because they got flooded. And then the water's dissipated and they get trapped in the lakes and they live.

00:18:42:23 – 00:19:01:20
They live, they just go fine beside. Well, we used to be in the sea. Now we're in a lake and people playing golf. This is one that's genuinely associate. The other day we hear this woman on a golf course and she's. I'm almost certainly I saw a shark in the in the lake and she's got a video and she video in it.

00:19:01:22 – 00:19:22:02
Yeah. I said it's okay. You sent it to me. Yeah, mate. I get sent shark stuff all the time. I've watched for four short videos on TikTok this morning. It just keeps coming up. Coming up. And that shark just comes back round. That's a bull shark. It's insane. Anyway, this is insane. This kid, this kid has been eaten alive, right?

00:19:22:02 – 00:19:50:01
So this two things you don't do, right? If you want to avoid keeping safe in the water, right in shark infested waters, going out in the water at dusk or sundown and dusk. Dawn was dusk. That is when it gets dark, isn't it? So sorry. Like 6 a.m. about 7 p.m. whenever your sides get dark. That's when sharks are most active and spearfishing.

00:19:50:01 – 00:20:14:12
They fucking love spear fishes. Fishermen. Yeah. And, because when they're shooting the fish, they emit a pole, sense like a, an electronic, like an electric field. They send out the fish in distress. Yeah. That can be picked up by sharks because they've got the sensors and the snouts can't remember the name of them. So, yeah. Shooting fish.

00:20:14:12 – 00:20:35:24
The sharks are like, I want to eat that fish. Then they see you. Sometimes you got the fish, then you get eaten by the shark. That's what happens. But I have, a friend of a friend. Friends of the family live in the Bahamas. And their son does this. They go out in Barbados. Brother. He goes out spearfishing in the dark, and all I've got is like a head torch.

00:20:36:01 – 00:21:01:21
Everything's pitch black. Just a head torch looking out. Imagine that. No, I don't want to a he's mad. Really? Really like what? What I don't get is a lot of these people that go diving and spearfishing, it's because it's a sport because they like the hunting element. It's not because they need to catch those fish to eat, because food is scarce.

00:21:01:23 – 00:21:29:01
They're doing it for enjoyment. Why? Why can't another hobby do anything? Oh man. Football. But not diving in the sea in shark infested waters to go spearfishing. What do you think's going to happen. But I just because you see them as well. And they've got like nets underwater where they've speared the fish. Then they get the fish and put it in their little netted bag and then they go on to the next one.

00:21:29:07 – 00:21:54:09
So there's a fish in a netted bag. I mean, loads of blood and distress signals that it's dying. What's going to come along? What do you think is going to happen. Yeah. This this. Have you heard of the abalone divers? No. So this is cool. This is. Where would you find the abalone? It's, I want to say in Australia somewhere, abalone is like a mussel.

00:21:54:11 – 00:22:19:08
It's like a. Yeah, like a muscle. Yeah. And they're worth their weight in gold. It cost a fortune. Because they could be used in, in dishes that just. They cost an absolute fortune. You know, it's. I'll tell you why. The whether it's so expensive a single abalone or abalone is worth a South Africa. My bad. It's worth a lot of money anyway.

00:22:19:14 – 00:22:47:16
So what they do is they they go along in their boat, and they lower these cages down into the water. The cages have propellers on them. So imagine it's cage around the diver. Bloody hell. Yeah. So it's sort of like the diver gets into this cage and it has propellers and he can go around safely right in this shockproof cage that has the pillars of propellers and forward.

00:22:47:18 – 00:23:11:07
They go down to the bottom. Now, in order to get the abalone off of the rocks, they have to leave the cage. Oh, God. Right. There is footage of great white sharks following the diver in these cages as he goes for abalone. You know, Sydney, they know. So? So it's one of the most dangerous jobs in that you can do underwater.

00:23:11:07 – 00:23:29:07
Is an abalone diver that the death rate is. It is insane. They have to leave the cage. You can't put the cage. Can't go right next to the rock. It has to be sort of planted, you know, ten feet from the rock. So to leave the cage, looking over his shoulders constantly for fucking great white sharks. There's that.

00:23:29:07 – 00:23:55:24
Yeah, there's an eight 12 minute documentary on it, on how much they get paid to do that. Not a lot, I'd imagine. Abalone divers killed by sharks, abalone divers wage watch again. Not. I just wouldn't do it. They can earn $120,000 in 50 days of work. Right? Okay. I can see why people do that. You know, I still wouldn't do, I did.

00:23:56:00 – 00:24:09:21
I still want the right. What is your earliest memory of sharks being on your radar? What's the earliest? So.

00:24:09:23 – 00:24:35:01
I remember when I was a kid, I had this VHS. The cover was like blue and yellow, and I've tried to find it ever since, and I just can't find it. It's it says it's a National Geographic video, but I don't remember that. It was, they were diving at an island called Rangi Rubber, which is in the French Polynesia.

00:24:35:07 – 00:25:03:06
Yeah. And they were diving and studying hammerhead sharks and all these different species of sharks. And I always remember getting this video, putting in the tape, the tape deck. And, you know, when you'd have, like, the lines come across your telly because it's just reading the video, the black and white lines and then it would start and then you hear the, the narrator, the, you know, the old English narrator talking about sharks.

00:25:03:07 – 00:25:25:19
Yeah. How dangerous it was. And then you just see the big deep blue sea, then all of a sudden you just see a flicker of gray in the distance, and then you're like, they're fucking here. They are fucking here. And I remember watching that over and over again, all these different sharks. And I'm thinking that is the first time as well.

00:25:25:21 – 00:25:52:21
I heard that the world's best shark name Baba Gong, a global gong shark. Yeah. And I was like, what is that? What is that? What fucking name is that? That is amazing. And that's when I. Then it's kind of had this realm of being into sharks. And then my, my grandparents, I still have the book they bought me this large like.

00:25:52:23 – 00:26:24:24
Hardback book of sharks. And on the front of it was the shark obviously breaching the wall teeth, all that. What the great whites like. Do you know, I don't even think it was a great white. You know, I can't remember what shark it was. And I read that book from front to back, back to front and seeing, oh, not only did it have all the sharks in there where they lived, what they ate, but it had shark attacks in there and it had pictures and stuff like that.

00:26:24:24 – 00:26:59:19
And, and, documentation of what happened, why and all those images just stuck in my head. But it was always, always the great white. That was always the one that I was like, it's just the king of the sea, man. It's just the it's the ultimate. Like just seeing those teeth, how fast it swims. Isn't it the only shark that can breach the water and have its full body out of the water?

00:26:59:21 – 00:27:21:03
The other other sharks do breach, but they. But it, yeah. In terms of a total like catch in full. Er yeah. Full. Yeah. But you have spinner sharks that will come out of the ocean and they'll actually physically spin in the air. Oh shit. I didn't even know about those. Yeah, there are lots more of a shark the size of a great white to get that much air.

00:27:21:03 – 00:27:41:10
And you know why they do that, right? For people that don't know they're ambush hunters. Whereas tiger sharks tend to be a little bit more like, I'm here and I'm going to eat you. Yeah. If you give me the chance. Great whites you don't even know. That's why they're so devastating. When someone gets hit by a great white, because you don't know that they they're about to attack you because you don't see them.

00:27:41:12 – 00:28:04:23
Which is why some so terrifying. But when they're breaching, they, impart of why they breaches the way they attack. So they come up from below and they hit the seal, which is their main prey. They hit the seal as hard as they can to create a devastating blow. And you see, it's been caught. The secret seal goes, if it gets hit, you're flying out of the water.

00:28:05:00 – 00:28:30:00
So there's a shark so that they only have to do it once and then ideally bleed to death and they consume it. So that's why when you see them breaching, it's kind of them practicing to do that. There may be other reasons why they do breach, but not a great deal is known about it. But that's not say when when did you kind of first realize, oh, what was the thing that started?

00:28:30:02 – 00:28:49:08
Yeah, it was love of sharks when he was, when he was talking there, I think honestly, it was I saw I watched jaws very young. Yeah, I remember rightly jaws is a parental guidance PG. It may and may be wrong, but as I remember as a kid, it was kind of it was PG. It wasn't 15 and there was no 12.

00:28:49:08 – 00:29:08:16
Okay, now I might be wrong, I might be wrong, but whatever it was, I was allowed to watch it. I think it might be on TV. I seem to remember my nan's front guard front from, front room, and obviously it's such a masterpiece. Jaws. It just creates fear. Like the the girl that gets eaten in the first scene.

00:29:08:16 – 00:29:34:03
That is terrifying. That. Yeah, the gentleman that got eaten in Egypt last summer. Yeah, that was about as close to that opening scene of a shark attack. I've ever seen. And it's dark. There's something underwater that you can't see, and it is tearing her apart. And she's screaming and it's the way it's shot, gurgling in the water, getting dragged beneath the water.

00:29:34:03 – 00:29:59:01
Not when I was a kid was like, this is horrendous. This is horrifying. And it's part of being human. Is is you drawn to things that a terrifying ride? The thing is, when when you when you're scared of something, what we do is learn as much about it as possible. So I used to my mum used to take me to the, to the library every Saturday morning without fail.

00:29:59:01 – 00:30:25:02
Practically every Saturday. And so I'd often go straight sort of football magazines like that match and shoot. Do you remember them? Yeah. Yeah, yeah. So I'd read those and then I'd, and then I'd go to the shark section, which wasn't big, which is about maybe a collection of about seven books. It's a small, small library. And I would lay them out in front of me, cross-legged on the floor, and I just read them, and then I'd take one out.

00:30:25:03 – 00:30:45:12
I was allowed to take one out. If you need it, you can lend from the library. And the book I would take out most was a collection of shark attack stories. Yes. Do you know the ones I'm talking about where they. It's the. It's maybe each shark attack is about 5 or 6 pages long, and then they move on to the next one and it tells you where it happened, what type of shark it was.

00:30:45:14 – 00:31:06:24
The person involved in the age. And, I would just read them and they would terrify me. It was like horror stories. I would read them and put a picture myself in that situation, and they were terrified me so much. So what I wanted, like, I thought that we should kill sharks then oh, go fuck fucking know. All I knew was jaws and this book about shark attacks.

00:31:06:24 – 00:31:32:24
I'm like fucking motherfuckers trying to get us, man. You need to stop them to stop those motherfuckers. Anyway, and then I, as I got a little bit older, like when I'd say about 8 or 9, I'd be reading all kinds of books about shark preservation. And I got put on to Valerie and Ron Taylor, who were, they were like in the shark world, but Posh and Becks and Shark, well, like, they they were the most famous people.

00:31:32:24 – 00:31:51:06
They would make documentaries they designed. I think they designed the, shark proof dive suits. And none of them really are shot proof. But no, they were involved in those. Do you remember the, like, chain shark? Yeah. Yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah. No one uses them anymore, so they can't be that good. I always used to think though when I was watching that.

00:31:51:06 – 00:32:12:11
So they would be slightly baggy. Not on the skin. Yeah. That they prevented the, the teeth from breaking the skin. Yeah. But you're still like tons of force coming down on your arm. It just it just crush your arm. So I was pretty useless. Anyway, I wrote to them when I was about 11. No way. Did you really?

00:32:12:11 – 00:32:30:12
Yeah, I wrote some, just like a handwritten letter. My mum, my mum, mum, mum helped me do it and I just, it's a, I don't, I can't remember what it was about is about like learning about preservation of sharks and then. Yeah that was it. I mean that would be the. That's pretty sweet actually. Yeah man, I love them.

00:32:30:12 – 00:32:56:05
I do love them. I also remember when I was younger, I can't remember how I maybe younger than between 7 and 9, I was on a holiday in Dorset and you know, you go around the local shops and stuff like that. And I remember seeing a, you know, those shark jaws where they're just open and I can't remember what shark it was.

00:32:56:07 – 00:33:18:07
And I remember thinking, I've got pocket money, I'm going to buy that. And then I saw the process like, I am not going to buy that. That's so the whole jaw, the whole your whole jaw. Yeah, I'd like one. And in the end I bought a couple of shark teeth. I bought two tiger shark teeth. Yeah. And to mako shark teeth, I and I kept them around me at this little envelope.

00:33:18:09 – 00:33:44:04
And in my pocket. Every time we sat down, I opened the envelope. Get the teeth out of my hand, have a little look. Fucking now I've got, I've got a couple of shark teeth. Me an ugly fucking ring. Yeah. So what are the things that you keep mentioning is shark attacks? Yeah. Is there a can you say a favorite shark attack.

00:33:44:09 – 00:34:10:14
Is there. What's one that sticks in your mind that re that, that kind of lit the fuze. Because I have one. So there is a famous picture and you would have seen this. You know the picture 1963 Rodney Fox. Yeah. In southern Australia. Yeah. You know the one you can't know. Yeah, yeah I know exactly you're talking about.

00:34:10:14 – 00:34:30:19
It's, you know, the one I just gesticulated to Ricky where the bite mark was on his body. That's right. No, because you can see you see the size of the sharks mouth on across his back. And you think. Yeah, fuck. His body was in the mouth of a shark, so he was. Guess what he was doing when he was bitten?

00:34:30:21 – 00:34:55:17
Was he spearfishing? He was fucking spearfishing with a fucking spear. How good can it baby fishing. How much fun can it be? So the shark, the pictures of it is he's sitting there. This is like torso. So from the top of his chest down to his waist, there is a clear, massive shark bite mark and there's loads of stitches.

00:34:55:17 – 00:35:27:04
Now he was bitten by a great white shark. Yeah. And he received over. He received 462 stitches. It like, punctured his diaphragm, his ribs, his lung, spleen. Like he got fucking absolutely walloped. And he said he remembered looking down, seeing the great white shark coming towards him and seeing its mouth open. The feeling of being hit by a bus and him thinking, what the fuck am I going to do?

00:35:27:06 – 00:35:46:09
And he because he'd been hit at such a velocity, he dropped his gun. His mask had come off, but he had eye to eye contact with this great white shark and he was like, I'm just going to start just going to start hitting it in its face and in its eye. And he did that. And the shark eventually let him go.

00:35:46:11 – 00:36:12:13
And he swam up to the top. And obviously he he was saved and he still alive to this day he's like 80 something as far as I'm aware. But that is when I that's one of the first images of a shark attack and great whites. That's where my love for luck, because I know that after that I was like, I know the other sharks that the great White is is the one.

00:36:12:15 – 00:36:32:05
It's the fucking daddy. It's the king of the sea. No one is going to take it down. Well, it isn't the king of the seas. It does not. I'm not with you. I'm with you. I'm with you. I want it, I'm gone. We going to say. But it's the orcas you can see. The thing is. See, I really,

00:36:32:07 – 00:36:59:23
People say it. Say this to me. I'm. Yeah, I've seen the video footage. Right? Yeah. The orcas, they work in pairs and stuff like that. They they gang up on a single great one. That's not a fair fight that they fight. Right. And also that they sneak up on them. They sneak up on it. A great white shark is just enjoying its day, swimming through the, you know, the blue yonder, just thinking about what it's going to do, what's going to eat.

00:37:00:00 – 00:37:22:23
And then the orca orcas, should I say they sneak up on it. And that's it. Okay. And if it was a one on one fight in the sea, the Great White would win. So I'm not I'm not having it. No, I don't know if it would also stop.

00:37:23:00 – 00:37:42:12
I mean, the animal kingdom doesn't say you're not allowed to gang up on each other, but you just. Whoever wins, wins. Yeah, and I'm with you, Rick. I don't want orcas gets a fuck like these, but more of a mean sea world. The thing is, is. Right. And again, like, just going back to this orca business because it does rile me.

00:37:42:18 – 00:37:58:03
But you can get orcas and you can put them in tanks and you can teach them and train them and kiss them and feed them and do this and do that. You do that trick, right? Like, now you could try it. They've tried this. They've tried oh I didn't it died. They probably put it back then. It probably got.

00:37:58:05 – 00:38:19:01
Yeah. They could eat just you know, like in massive aquariums you can have certain type of shots that are okay. Not no. Aquarium is a place for a shark, by the way. It's not they they can't live natural lives in these aquariums, but there are some that are more suited it to others. They've tried put Great White into an aquarium, a massive aquarium and died.

00:38:19:01 – 00:38:58:06
Or it got so sick they tried to put it back. But things like sand tiger sharks or grain sharks, you can have them in there. They kind of in your case, when you go to, you know, Sealife center in London and you see a great nurse shark or sand tiger shark that I do. Right. I always remember I probably tell this story before, but when I was younger, my cousins, they went on a family trip to Orlando and I knew they were going to see you out and I knew they were going to see sharks in a tank and go through that tube that everyone does, and the sharks swimming around everywhere.

00:38:58:08 – 00:39:16:11
And I was so, like heartbroken and jealous that they were going to do that. And then when they came over to the house to see them, they had like great white shark too. My two cousins had great white shark t shirts on and I thought, oh man, I shouldn't have that in front of the oh no, no, I it was a bit rude not rubbing my face and then it.

00:39:16:17 – 00:39:41:20
Well, absolutely. But I was just thinking, would I ever get a chance will I ever get a chance in my life to see a great white shark, like, okay, here's a question for you. Would you ever do a cage dive? Yes. With Great White shark. Yeah, 100%. I am going to do that before Friday. And you really?

00:39:41:21 – 00:40:03:21
Well, how how can you be, like, fascinated. And you got an opportunity to come face to face with me because I've seen other other videos where great white sharks are gnashing at the cage and it's like, I get in there sometimes. Well, yeah, I've seen one get in there a recent one where one got in there and then it eventually came out, but the diver was inside the cage and they were saying to it, is anyone in there?

00:40:03:21 – 00:40:20:07
Is anyone is no, no, no one's in. Oh my God, like Tom's in there or something. And I would just go, is he really in there? Yeah, he was in there. It was in there and he got out. But I think if I was there, I'd be like, he's dead. He's dead. Cut the cake, cut the cake. And I tell you, because he might be alive.

00:40:20:07 – 00:40:46:06
He's dead, he's dead. Cut the cage. Cut the cage. We say the shark to the shark in the cage. The line mate. Do you know I. The thing is, like, I would love to be able to say yes, I want to do this, and I will give you an opportunity. You would do it, and then they would take me to the harbor and they'd be like, right, you need to get on the boat now.

00:40:46:06 – 00:41:05:03
And I'll be like, is that a joke? Like, the boat is the size of me, you know, it's tiny. And they're like, we've done close on 2000 shark dies. This boat, like you're going to be safe. I would want a, like, a cruise liner just to be safe. Yeah, I the boat needs to be bigger because. Super. Yeah.

00:41:05:07 – 00:41:25:04
You see great white sharks and they flank on the side of these boats and everyone's like, oh cool. That's a big one. It's the size of the boat. Fucking can't be a boat, you know. Not big. Yeah, that and then and then having to put a wetsuit on and have your legs and again I don't know why they do this.

00:41:25:04 – 00:41:44:16
Maybe you can educate me. What? Why do people go off backwards? So I'm just like, oh, that's just yeah, that's scary. Like you don't know what's down there. You go backwards with a tank on your back. I saw what I saw on the other day that got me Rick. And not often the shark videos that I still get me like, oh, look at them, guy.

00:41:44:18 – 00:42:03:19
I've ever seen it before. Yeah. Or it's like, I don't know, I can kind of like, guess what's going to happen. There's a guy, these fuckers, they go out in the kayaks, right. And it's not, it's not Tiger Shroff. That's like a shark around me. This is one Rick's favorite video, which is of a man. Just type two.

00:42:03:19 – 00:42:22:09
Tiger shark rammed me. Until I'm going to I am going to repost that on our Instagram as well. But there's another one. He's in the middle of the ocean, Rick. And he's feet. He's not really feet inside the kayak. He's got his feet dangling down over like a kayak into the ocean, and he's just fiddling around with fish guts.

00:42:22:11 – 00:42:45:22
It's a little, mate. He's got a camera mounted at the back of his kayak so he can't see what you can see, which is he's looking out to the ocean. What do you see coming up to him, fin? Yeah, of course you do. Show tiger shark fin comes right up to the boat. He sees it last minute, brings his feet in and just carries on.

00:42:45:22 – 00:43:03:13
What he's doing is fucking. Oh, got me, got me. But there's another one as well. God, there's a there's one where the man jumps off the pier. I think we might have talked about this. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So there's one that looks fake. This one looks completely real. And that got to me. I see one sharks and underwater structures.

00:43:03:15 – 00:43:26:22
But I've got an issue with that as well. Like he is underwater. They're terrified. They're because that one's been CGI quite a bit. And it's been played with an edit. The one that I'm, I don't know whether to, it's real. They know whether to believe that one or not. And actually, I'll mention his name when I was at the football the other day.

00:43:27:03 – 00:43:48:12
Nick, how's it go? Nick. He said, you have to bring up the YouTube channel. Of what? I can't remember the name. Is it Malibu Artist or something like that? Is that his name? Yeah. Malibu is. He does the drones. He sends the drones up. Tell the people about. Yeah, tell them about that. I've had email exchange with him.

00:43:48:14 – 00:44:07:10
Have you read it? Yeah. When I was doing the no holds barred part, I was going to interview him. No way. He any kind of exploded. And they kind of I think it I just, I don't know, it just didn't happen. But what he does he sends up drones to I guess he was just doing it for wildlife.

00:44:07:10 – 00:44:32:01
Wasn't specifically focusing on on sharks. He was just interested in flying drones around, like with, you know, beaches and stuff. And what you found really quickly was the fact of how many great white sharks typically are in this area of California where he filmed. Yeah. But more importantly, and this is the stuff you can see on his YouTube channels, how close they get to surfers and kids.

00:44:32:03 – 00:44:49:12
But a boogie boarding. Yeah. And the people are not even aware. There's this one. There's this footage of the shot, the only aware when they see the drone flying overhead, they know that the drone means that there's a shark there. Yeah, but there's these gigantic sharks, and it just like within five feet of the surfers. And the surfers don't know to that.

00:44:49:14 – 00:45:15:01
And what it teaches you is actually they're not mindless killing machines that want to eat who all human beings. Occasionally it happens, but the amount of interactions between the sharks and humans and the tiny number of attacks that there are, means that it really not interested in that at all. Honestly. Like the check out the YouTube channel Malibu Artist or something like that.

00:45:15:03 – 00:45:46:10
And you wouldn't you would not believe how many great white sharks and sharks in general that you see and the proximity to swimmers, surfers, whatever, and how close that humans actually are and how they interact every single day. It is fucking mental. Yeah. Now, what you just said there about shark attacks and humans as sharks is your thing.

00:45:46:12 – 00:46:18:20
What do you do? You have a, a fact that people need to know about sharks. Is that or not even need to know just just a general fact that you think that is just not really. No. Okay. What what? Well, a common misconception that about sharks that people always say, oh, sharks are I, I don't always want to attack humans or sharks or like what I do this or what I do that.

00:46:18:22 – 00:46:42:09
Well, I or something about finning. Is that what you call them motherfuckers? Yeah. Because you do often. Yeah. You have a drink? Can you tell me about Shark fin and then you go off with my number? I fuck you now. I'm. I'm locked in here for 20 minutes. Yeah. Well, there's this process of use in the in the east, in certain sections.

00:46:42:09 – 00:47:08:02
Certain sections of Asia. Yeah. They, the shark fin soup is deemed to be like a it's like a having a rhino horn in your front room. It's a status thing. And often when people get married, they will serve shark fin soup as, a starter. The problem is the way shark fin soup is these sharks are not obviously not farmed.

00:47:08:02 – 00:47:38:04
They're caught in the wild and they they have their fins cut from their bodies, and then they're thrown back alive into the sea. No good for them to drown, right. So the problem is, is that you said what was this was it's like eating cows or anything like that, or chickens or any kind of meat industry or food industry is similar, but fin adds no taste to the soup and it has no nutritional genuine nutritional value.

00:47:38:05 – 00:48:00:07
Value to the soup either. So it's merely cutting them off just for the sake of saying to show, yeah, yeah, that's shit. Fuck me off. But I did actually want to, I did, I did want to go back to what you said. You're my favorite shark attack. Because I think also that the one in Egypt lost last year, as I mentioned already, because the whole thing was caught on camera from start to finish.

00:48:00:09 – 00:48:21:18
And you can hear the boy, these 24 year old Russian guy. Yeah. Screaming for his dad. I want to say favorite. It's like, makes me feel sick watching it, right. Yeah. Yeah. It's it's horrendous. It's horrendous. And he's getting hit by a tiger shark. In in terms of like, the places you can swim on Earth, that's the most dangerous.

00:48:21:20 – 00:49:02:12
Egypt's got to be up there in the Red sea. There's been lots 5 or 6 attacks in the last four years. Fucking. Oh, yeah, three of them fail. And, there's there are some reasons why that might be in terms of, the increased shipping in the area, the amount of waste that gets thrown over, the change in temperatures driving sharks closer to shore, much more likely to come into contact with humans, especially tiger sharks, were kind of a little bit more indiscriminate than, than great whites in that if you're in the water with a tiger shark, you'll be interested enough in you to come up and try and bite you.

00:49:02:13 – 00:49:19:15
Like if you've seen those footage of these divers that try and that they're redirecting tiger sharks as they come up to, then they put that yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah. So it doesn't look like the tiger sharks are going to attack them, but it definitely approaches them and opens a mouth. So they would they potentially would, would bite down.

00:49:19:17 – 00:49:43:21
And what happens with this kid is he's trying to swim away from it. It grabs hold of him and it just fucking tears them apart. There's one bit where he's he's he's been hit and he's screaming for his dad because you can hear him saying, Papa. And then he just moves about 12ft in the water and you know, the shark's got him by the torso and it's just moving him along.

00:49:43:23 – 00:50:09:18
And this is a grown man like he's 13, 12 or 13 stone and he's been moved around like he's nothing. And then all of a sudden he gets twisted. So the shark's obviously twisted and his legs go up in the air as well. That is the most horrific, one of the most horrific things I've seen. And it's also probably the best documented shark attack that you'll see so close to shore, so clear as well in it.

00:50:09:22 – 00:50:30:09
Yeah. I've never seen anything like that. This is another one of these, that it was a Army vehicle, like Navy, Navy, ship. And it's like custom for them when they're in the middle of the ocean just to jump in and have a swim. Like, fuck that. Do you know? I mean, right there in the middle of the ocean, they'll just jump in for a swim.

00:50:30:09 – 00:50:49:20
Like there ain't, like, 1000ft of ocean or whatever it is. But I can't believe they, And the shark turns up and they start shooting in the water to try and get it away, but ends up in the leg of a woman. No, I can't really see much, but it happens. Yeah, I need to have a look at that.

00:50:49:22 – 00:51:11:18
So I've we've got one. Shark story said after you mentioned in being in the the open sea. So a few years ago, I went solo traveling around Indonesia from finishing up with a few days on Komodo Island to see the dragons. Such a cool place. If ever you get the chance to go, I'd love to fucking go.

00:51:11:20 – 00:51:32:20
In the end, I had a day free so I booked to go snorkeling on the coral reefs. It was only when I got on the boat I realized everyone else was scuba diving, and I was the only one snorkeling. It didn't bother me, but did mean at each stop, the group of divers went down and I was on my own at the surface.

00:51:32:22 – 00:51:55:14
On the final stop, they said there was a current on this reef so the boat would drop us off, drive to the end of the reef and we would get pulled slowly towards them. The divers headed down and out of sight and the boat pulled away, leaving me on my own. Out in the middle of the reef. The boat was about a kilometer away.

00:51:55:14 – 00:52:20:12
Yeah, I could just see it. It was all fine. It was all fine to begin with. I was diving down to look at the giant manta rays and other animals having a great time until I saw something in the corner of my eye. I turned around and could see shark was coming towards me. The thing I really remember was just how quiet it was.

00:52:20:14 – 00:52:48:04
No real noises as I was trying to keep my head under the water so I could keep sight of it, and literally no one else about or on any land nearby. I was trying to stay still as possible, hoping it wasn't looking at me as food about my size. The shark was slowly approaching. It got within a couple of meters, close enough so I could see the white tip on its fin.

00:52:48:06 – 00:53:24:11
It got pretty close before heading past and started circling again. It did this a few times before thankfully heading away, and I made a pretty quick swim to the boat. All in all, a pretty terrifying experience and a reminder that Indonesian health and safety is pretty lax. Can you can you imagine being in the open sea like you just saying about the Navy jumping, you got, you know, to the north west, south east, just just see, you can see a boat in the distance a kilometer away.

00:53:24:13 – 00:53:44:09
The divers, they're all out of sight. They're all dead. Deep dive in. And you're just they're so grown. So one of one of the ways to remain safe is don't go. Don't be on your own in groups. You're much safer, right? I'm not sure, because I got picked off. I also lost probably the last shark. You want to be in the sea with a white tip?

00:53:44:11 – 00:54:01:10
Really? Yeah. I probably the hands down the most aggressive shark in the water. Really? Yeah, but I don't know if he was that close. It might not have been a white tip. You might have seen that. But they're generally oceanic, so they're not necessarily in the reefs. And that's how far the reef out. I'm not sure he knew.

00:54:01:14 – 00:54:32:13
He knows what he saw. So let's just take it as is that. Because they get so they don't get food all the time. They're out in the ocean. So they have to take every opportunity to feed themselves. Yeah. So you often see, super aggressive behavior from oceanic white tips and that if not most shocked that their fins, pictorial fins point downwards when they look at the kind of attack, but it's the most evident in them.

00:54:32:15 – 00:54:52:06
They almost arch their back and that that the tip that the pectoral fins go down. Okay. Down. They don't don't they're not straight down. They'll bend. It's almost like they this is the quickest way I'm going to travel for the water while I attack you kind of thing. I don't know why why they do it, but it's that it's like their attack posture and you see it have the in them.

00:54:52:08 – 00:55:23:01
Yeah. They're also. Yeah. See like all of this all the stuff we're discussing a lot again being in a cage or going spearfishing or just on a coral reef or anything like that, it's just I like I know what's there, man. I know that there. I never, ever want to do anything like that. Now, before we do, before we, end this section of the pod, do you want to game of Shark Top Trumps?

00:55:23:01 – 00:55:47:17
Yeah, I would love a game. Let's fucking go then. I can only have only a couple of, cards because obviously people can't see this, which is highly annoying. But you know what? I would love to do it. Do you ever watch these games of, You seen them online poker, right? And the people that are playing their cards are on the table, but the is like a glass table, so the cameras can see what cards they've got.

00:55:47:19 – 00:56:06:19
So if we were playing Top Trumps and then we did a video, one of, Top trumps, our card to be on the table so people would know what week, what cards we've got. Yeah, yeah. They'd be like, oh, with, you know, on the river now was flat going to deal with this? What's going to do on the flop now he's he's picked spade.

00:56:06:19 – 00:56:29:11
He's pick spade. Shit. Ricky's in trouble. He's only got a three. I've, Weirdly, Rick is a bit of education here. Okay? I've just found the shot that this guy would have been swimming with. The what? Reef shark. Oh, fucking. Oh. No way. Yeah, literally. Because when I. When whitetip, I was just assuming the oceanic ones, which are new aggressive.

00:56:29:11 – 00:56:43:08
These guys probably not. Not as aggressive. The white reef shark is probably the most common type of shark found by divers in a tropical reef. The name comes from, of course, the white tip, on the first and sometimes on the second dorsal fin.

00:56:43:10 – 00:57:02:06
So there you go. That's where you can see. So it's generally pretty safe. Hello? Still fucking shit your pants when? Mate? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Fuck that rock. And then what do we do? Two cards. Okay. Actually, three, because we need a winner. All right, all right. Cool. All right, you go first, right? I have go. Oh, for fuck's sake.

00:57:02:08 – 00:57:37:19
I my first one. It is an angel shark. I'm going to have to go with mystery. What is it? Oh, sure. Minus five. I've got a mega mouth shark. Also. Shit. Mystery five. Do you know about my job to tell you? Yeah. Go on. And it in a cool mega mouth shark's massive mouth. Now, finally, there is, the mega mouth is considered one of the rarest species of sharks, and it really lives up to its name with a bit of a caricature esque look.

00:57:37:21 – 00:57:56:24
Much mystery surrounds the species since it was discovered by sheer chance in 1976. Before then, they didn't even know these motherfuckers were in there, do you know? See, that's that's what I find fascinating. The ocean is mental. They didn't know it was about. They didn't know about that shit until 1976. Rick, can I tell you something about Greenland sharks?

00:57:56:24 – 00:58:15:22
Most people know this now, but I think Greenland sharks are out there. My favorite. Just because this mental. Yeah, but they can live into their for hundreds. There are Greenland shots out there that existed longer than America. I had prepared a short quiz for you that I was going to do. If we had enough time, I'd that was.

00:58:16:02 – 00:58:38:17
I'd love to tell what you really? Yeah, absolutely. Wow. I only did six questions. All right. But I would have got that one. But just just quickly on that then I won't say any more. But they so they, they're, they can live in fort. They don't be they don't get to their sexual maturity till about 125. So they can't have babies until years until they reach 125.

00:58:38:19 – 00:59:00:04
They're blind. Every single one of them are blind. They all have the same parasite which makes them blind. They cannot see they're just bald around the in bits at fucking fish carcass and like blind while and have sex until like 115 years. Well shit. But it's the longest living animal on earth. That is fucking insane. It's good in it, right?

00:59:00:08 – 00:59:25:08
Yeah. It's good. All right. Go right. Go on then. Oh, bull. Shark. Yeah. Fucking. Oh. Okay. Basking shark. If I know, though, know how to beat you, then, yeah. And, incidents 100 zero. So I've also here got my favorite shark, Rick. My very my absolute favorite shark, which is a little bullhead shark, a bull.

00:59:25:08 – 00:59:55:23
Which is your favorite? I made a cute little I like yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah. Horn sharks call it as well. All right. Go on. You have go. Right. Okay I my one is a black tip reef shark. And I am going to go with the Top Trumps rating. The overall rating. Yeah. Well she was 17. Fox eight 116.

00:59:55:23 – 01:00:17:23
What did you go for the the Top Trumps. Right in it was I blacked it. So my bowhead shark, which just sits at the bottom of, you know, little reef, it's fucking. I've got a 17. That is bullshit. I think you've won this, by the way. I mean, I think I have, right? Okay, let's quickly go to this quiz and then we we'll finish up.

01:00:18:00 – 01:00:52:04
So the quiz. Right. Okay. How many species of shark are there? I can't tell you exactly, but 400, 500 or 600. I thought it was about 325. So I'm going to say 400. That's incorrect. 500 over 500. That's not right. Okay. Sharks predate the dinosaurs and are some of the most ancient creatures on the planet. For how long have they roughly been around?

01:00:52:04 – 01:01:18:10
For 400 million years. 450 million years or 500 million years. It's a tough quiz. It's tough. What is this fucking what's was just so something could, give me a chance? I like sharks. What a fucking 400 million years. Well, correct. Well done. Excellent. Well, there are 520 known species. I thought it was much less than that. Thank you.

01:01:18:12 – 01:01:50:09
All right, now yours. Nine. Only 12. Realistically dangerous to human beings. Any 12? 99. How many of the 12 can you name real, say great white? I'm just going to get them up. Yeah, great. Well, obviously, I think we got them up. Yes. 12 are considered. So of all. See, this is this is the information I've got because I've read this before.

01:01:50:09 – 01:02:30:02
Of all the 375 shark species, only 12 are considered potentially dangerous to humans. Oh, okay. Cool. Then you got great white. Correct. A great white tiger. Yep. Mako. Yeah. Bull. Yep. Just talk. Which one do we just talk about? Just just, you know, we've said how aggressive a white tip. Yep. Oceanic white tip. Cool. It's tough when you're in.

01:02:30:02 – 01:02:53:17
The spiny is tough. Can I go for a goddamn it? That's me. Done. I've got five, hammerhead. Fuck. You would have got that eventually. Yeah, yeah, should have got that shit. I got that, you got all the big ones. Blue sharks, everyone you missed. There are others here that I was gonna say. Blue Shark, but I didn't think.

01:02:53:19 – 01:03:17:07
Yeah, they do. They can be. It was actually the most dangerous shot we have in our waters. British. What is it? Blue shot. This. Are you talking about the potentially gone on the blue shark snorkel with blue sharks? Yeah. Yeah. And then they said, like, four people have died because they've been bitten by the blue sharks. And I'm like, yeah, I'm pretty sure that would be national news if someone had been killed by a blue shark in the eye.

01:03:17:07 – 01:03:34:24
Contact the eye contact and that person back. And they said that. Yeah, it was that it was a mistaken, stat that they'd put in there. Yeah. You contacted them. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I was like, what the fuck? You know, I'm on a podcast. You telling me shit about this, man? He was, Tippy. Sorry. Nice. Nice one.

01:03:34:24 – 01:04:01:09
Blacktip sand tiger shark, and, the nurse shark. But I was gonna say no shark is what it is because people fuck with them. They're more like puppies. But, like, you know, this show. Yeah. All right, what was the other animal quizzes questions we've done? Yeah. Well, I mean, I do one. Okay. So unlike most fish, shark skeletons are made of what cartilage.

01:04:01:11 – 01:04:27:01
Cartilage. Very good, very good. Cartilage. Very good. I knew what he meant. I knew what he meant. Okay. Sharks have a heightened sense of smell. And it's thought that sharks can smell a drop of blood in water. From how far away? A quarter of a mile, a half a mile or one mile. What did you say? Quarter mile.

01:04:27:01 – 01:04:54:12
Half a mile. One mile? Yeah, mile core of a mile. Yeah. Bullshit. But great white sharks, apparently. One mile, but the rest is the average. They quarter, they, they then you know, the this one. How long estimated Greenland sharks have a lifespan for 200 years. 300 years or 400 years. 400. You know, you could mention sorry, but you to have one.

01:04:54:14 – 01:05:22:13
One last question. How fast can great white sharks swim up to. Oh, that's a good question. The 30mph, 35mph or 40mph, 35. Very good ice in the test, right? Well done, well done. I guess, to be honest. Well I mean okay. Yeah. But what is interesting in there, no single sentence in there knows which pick up these electrical pulses in the water.

01:05:22:13 – 01:05:52:23
So distress fish. They can kind of pick up on it better than smelling urine. Urine as well as apparently best if you want to attract sharks. Having a piss in the sea is much more likely than bleeding in the sand. Tell you that. I mean, I'm not talking about in fucking Spain, Ricky. Although there was a 23 reports suggested it might be exaggerated, but there was a shark, a great white shark that was caught in Malta, which is in the Mediterranean Sea, and it's the biggest great white shark ever caught with a line.

01:05:53:00 – 01:06:20:15
And it was reported to be 23ft. Now Google, in a memo. It's fucking great. Yeah. Well sort of stray cats and fucking massive jaws. If you look at be, look at how close is like if you're, is that close to us. It's the bottom of Italy. That's that's fairly close. Yeah. I actually did do a Google for this.

01:06:20:18 – 01:06:47:02
Yeah. The closest great white shark to the British Isles that's ever been spotted where I've actually been registered. And, it was the Bay of Biscay in France. Interesting. That's quite. Yeah, that's that's south though, isn't it? Yes. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Is it near Africa? I don't actually know. I would say it is towards down that region.

01:06:47:02 – 01:07:15:18
Yeah. Of course Bay of Biscay. Right. We are going to go on to I'm sorry. We're going to have to close the sharks conversation until next time. And we are going to be going on to dilemmas and something only you know. So dilemmas is called spoiled for choice. Something only you know is on the edge of glory.

01:07:15:20 – 01:07:42:11
Now before we go into those next week is going to be about addiction. So this is what you guys want. It is well drugs, gambling, sex, phone addiction, you name it, we'll cover it. Oh, if you've got any stories or anything that you want to send in to us, as usual, send it in to lads. Anon pod at gmail.com.

01:07:42:11 – 01:08:17:00
Now we are going to go into dilemmas. Oh, I'll just, just tell you. Got an issue for a tissue? You're a bit sad cause will give you a can in your soul alone in your flat. Please talk to Vicky a flat bed. Let that stress off your chest. Well, friend, you deserve it. Black, black. You're safe here to get nice warm between brachial and.

01:08:17:02 – 01:08:40:11
You're going to have to, dial in for this one for a bit. Focus. I'm a 22 year old male who is currently in between a rock and a hard place in the ladies department. I've been friends with girl number one for a year and a half after meeting on Tinder, but we always had more of a friend dynamic rather than anything more.

01:08:40:13 – 01:09:07:13
We've met up a few times since knowing each other. However, recently things have gotten more romantic and we are now dating, as in going on dates with the intention of possibly becoming a relationship. Now onto girl number two. Girl number two. I've known for six months our dynamic has been purely friends with benefits in it at the beginning.

01:09:07:13 – 01:09:37:23
But as time went on, pretty soon into our friends of Benefits, we became really good friends. She's the sweetest girl and it's always there for me. But I don't like her in a romantic sense. Girl number one and girl number two know about each other through me, telling them about each other, but they don't actually know each other personally as me and girl number one, where we're only going to be friends.

01:09:37:23 – 01:10:01:09
In my head, I had no issue telling them about girl number two. Here's the problem I don't want to stop. Sorry. I don't want to drop girl number two, as she's someone who I consider a best friend. But I also don't want to drop girl number one, as I see great potential. I may have caught the love bug.

01:10:01:10 – 01:10:27:22
My question is, is there a way I can keep girl number one happy? What are your thoughts? So what's down number. So go number one. He's been seeing for a year and a half or something like that. And it started off as a friends relationship really. They met on Tinder. It's been more friends, but as they come into the last they just got a bit more romantic.

01:10:27:24 – 01:10:55:10
So there's a bit more romance to it. And he says that he may have caught the love bug, right? Girl number two, it's only known for six months. Friends have benefits, but they have become really good mates. And he uses the word best mates. And she's really sweet and lovely, but he thinks he he's he's not romantic. Doesn't feel romantic about the second one.

01:10:55:10 – 01:11:18:15
Yeah, there's more more potential for the first one to be. But he's asking, can he be friends with the girl and pursue the first one? Right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He can. It's up to her whether she wants to be friends with you. You just carry on doing what you're doing. You make sure that you're. You've got to make sure that she's genuinely, okay with the situation.

01:11:18:17 – 01:11:33:07
And she will tell you when she's not. But do you say to her, look, I know we've got a bit thing, but I'm gonna concentrate on this girl because I feel like there's a future there. I see you as a friend. Then that's up to her to deal with it. How? How she how she sees fit. She might say, actually, you know what?

01:11:33:07 – 01:11:57:13
It's too weird. I can't do it. Then you lose her. But then. You loser. Yeah, yeah, I totally agree that. Yeah, it's going to be all day, man. Because if you are mates, if you are pursuing a relationship with girl number one and you're still mates with girl number two, then go number one is going to be like, you literally told me having sex with her.

01:11:57:14 – 01:12:16:21
And you can't really maintain that relationship. And you've you've used the word like best mates with girl number two. But I don't know, like, if you're getting involved, you can have to be your best mate now. Like, if she's not cool of it, you'll lose your best mate. Yeah. You can't expect the other girl to be cool with your relationship with you.

01:12:16:22 – 01:12:37:14
No. Oh, no. So, you got to just choose. Yeah, you got to choose and just go, because. And also, you know, the likelihood of you staying best friends with this girl, you know, when she starts banging other men, what you how are you going to feel? Just see where it goes. The duty is the choice isn't in your hands really, unless you want to play them both.

01:12:37:19 – 01:12:59:23
And like, not mention things and withhold information. And that's your decision, but probably end up messy. Yeah. That's that's that's, you are going to get into a lot of bad problems if you withhold information or just to be completely cool when there is no issue. Yeah. Or you could just because they know about each other, try threesome.

01:12:59:23 – 01:13:16:02
That might that might be a thing I did first before why didn't you say that? Why didn't you say you should have just straight out then I then I was sense as being sensible. But but yeah, it's the threesomes of the course and then you might not get another opportunity to do that. So that should be your first and foremost.

01:13:16:04 – 01:13:48:04
And yeah. So yeah I think that's good advice. Threesome. Yeah. Yeah. Tell us how you get on. Tell us how you get on. Now we're going to go into something only you know why something. You know, you. I was about 21. A virgin and an adult website, mainly used for couples who want to throw their keys in the fruit bowl, but not exclusive to them.

01:13:48:06 – 01:14:19:21
Anyway, I'm browsing away on the nearby section, and there appears the account name Glory Hole sucker. Meshes the account to say hi. Within seconds the account is replied and it's ordering me to go visit them in the next hour. So as the young, horny, inexperienced, wet behind the ears person I was, I agreed to go. I hopped in the car and off I went to the address, given a message to say I was there.

01:14:19:23 – 01:14:43:01
It was late at night, maybe 10 to 11 p.m., and it was totally silent everywhere. I was told to walk straight into the house and go upstairs. As I entered the house, the sounds of barking into my ears and shit me up properly. A blowie was waiting, so I marched up the stairs to be greeted by this glorious hole I was bricking.

01:14:43:01 – 01:15:06:01
At this point I've walked into a stranger's house without knocking. Dogs are going mention the background and I'm nervous for the first blowie of my life. Now here's where it gets interesting and shows how fucking innocent and stupid I was back then. So I'm taking a while to stick my Johnson through this hole because of the nerves and the dogs barking like fucking crazy.

01:15:06:03 – 01:15:31:15
Then I hear in the gravest of voices, give me a cock. That. That what? It's a man. How do I even not think of that possibility? For fuck's sake! Oh, my knowledge of House of glory at this time was from porn and beautiful, exotic women knocking you off anonymously. Never. Nevertheless, I was here now I'd come too far.

01:15:31:17 – 01:15:55:20
So a hastily pull down my goggles and shuffle towards this whole floppy cock out like a penguin. All that's going around in my head is this is some hairy brute of a bloke suck in my cock, or while his dogs are going batshit downstairs. I never saw the dogs, but they sounded massive. So this man is not going away for a few minutes.

01:15:56:00 – 01:16:21:24
But I'm still as floppy as possible that Johnson will not give in. He knows he's been sold a dream on false pretenses, so I'm now thinking about how to get out of this situation. So I did what was only the thing possible. Took back control of my cock jockeys up and dash down the stairs, taking three steps at a time, a bombed into my car and sped away.

01:16:21:24 – 01:16:42:03
If anyone was looking nearby that I thought I'd broken in and was making a getaway, never again. Lessons have been learned and that is the thing. That's something only I know. That's amazing. That is amazing. And you know, this is it is. Everybody's got one of these things. Yeah I know, and you listen to these people. You, whoever you are, listen to this.

01:16:42:03 – 01:17:06:09
Listen to my voice. Now you've got one of these stories and we want to fucking air them, all right? Yeah. Send it in anonymously. Start a new a new a new Gmail account. This. Anyone knows, send us in anything like that. Just was made a mental thing. You've done that no one knows. And even if is your personal email address, we will never, ever, ever say anything is sworn to see.

01:17:06:09 – 01:17:41:23
You're in the circle of trust that we will never say anything, never mentioned it. You know, you send it in, get it off your chest. Yeah, lighten the load. Get it off your shoulders. Send it in to lads. Anon pod at gmail.com. Thank you for listening and we will see you all next Monday. But, night hazy light, band of brothers playing tunes high as quiet midnight waves surfing through till daylight breaks.

01:17:42:02 – 01:17:56:10
Rhythm hit us different ways. Love of music that we prayed with our tongues in cheek. Band aside, we like to speak. And yeah, times change. But no matter what the bond remains. Promise.
